Burns, Thaddeus J.

Burns worked for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) in Geneva, where he served as the U.S. intellectual property attaché to the WTO and WIPO. He was the principal legal adviser on intellectual property to both the Geneva office of USTR and the U.S. Mission to the United Nations. He has been accredited to U.S. delegations to the World Health Organization and the United Nations Committee on Trade and Development. Before joining USTR, Mr. Burns was an associate solicitor in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. (1)

As of 2005 was counsel at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld where he advised corporations on the conventions of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the World Health Organization and the Agreement on Trade-Related Intellectual Property of the World Trade Organization (WTO), and provided advice on intellectual property and technology policy developments at the European Commission and the European Patent Office.
