Lawton, Stephan E.

Chief Counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Health and the Environment (1971-1979).

In the late 1990s he was a partner at the law firm Hogan & Hartson and a registered lobbyist for Amgen and Genentech.

As of 2005 he was vice president for regulatory affairs and general counsel of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). (1)

He has served on advisory committees to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Institute of Medicine,
including the HHS National Advisory Commission on Childhood Vaccines and the National Institute on Allergy and Infectious Diseases. (2)
