Beier, David W.

Served as counsel to U.S. Rep. Robert Kastenmeier (D-Wis) on the House Committee on the Judiciary for ten years, with significant responsibility for legislation protecting intellectual property rights and trademark law reform.

Genentech vice president for government affairs (1989-1998), focusing on issues related to the biotechnology industry such as the extension of the R&D Tax Credit, the 1995 Biotech Process Patent Bill, and the Orphan Drug Act. (1)

Chief domestic policy advisor to U.S. Vice President Al Gore (1998-2001).

From 2001 to 2003 Beier was a member of the law firm of Hogan & Hartson, where he represented "companies, trade associations, and investors in technology-based businesses, offering corporate counseling and regulatory advice as well as public policy advocacy. Among his clients are biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and health care companies." (2)

In December 2003 Beier was appointed senior vice president for global government affairs at Amgen Inc. (3)
