About the New Revolving Door

Confidence in government and particularly in government regulation is compromised whenever the independence of those making decisions, including those empowered to regulate, is called into question. Despite the existence of ethics laws, codes and regulations, movements of personnel between the "private sector" (industry) and "government" raise concern in some quarters about potential conflicts of interest.

This database includes information about people who have worked in both the public and the private sector. The information has been gathered over a period of years and most recently was considerably augmented by the researchers of the Public Information Network.

The database is a work-in-progress, neither comprehensive nor complete. Inclusion in the database is not meant to imply any impropriety. Lack of inclusion in the database implies nothing at all. We continue to do research.

Citations for the information are provided on each page. Much of the data comes from websites, and thus citations may become outdated. We welcome corrections and suggestions for improvement. (Write beb@igc.org or click here to enter your suggestions.

Please note: It was our intention to update and expand this database over time so that researchers in any part of the world could access information about those in government or those advising government. Unfortunately, in the current regulatory and administrative climate, by the beginning of 2006, we found that we could not keep up with the ever-increasing volume of names of those who apparently had gone through the revolving employment door between industry and government regulatory agencies. Although we continue to receive and process suggestions for new names, we have stopped adding new entries to the online database. Until further notice, this database should be considered incomplete and outdated. For a more up-to-date database on the Revolving Door, check out the Center for Responsive Politics site at <http://www.crp.org/revolving/index.asp>.
